Kentucky's Colon Cancer Prevention Project that began in 2004 has raised awareness of colorectal cancer and moved the state's screening rate from second to last to 23rd in the nation. Executive director Claire Albright says she expects the program's success, derived from public education and legislative efforts, soon will lead to a decrease in the state's death rate from colorectal cancer.
