Asthma is linked to higher diabetes, heart disease rates in study
A retrospective study found that people with asthma have higher rates of heart disease and diabetes but no increased risk of inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatoid arthritis, compared with those without asthma. But expert Dr. Jennifer Appleyard said the findings should be taken as preliminary data only and emphasized more research is needed on the connections between asthma, diabetes and heart illnesses.
