Guidelines for post-mastectomy radiation often go unfollowed

Many breast cancer patients don't get post-mastectomy radiation.
Researchers reported in the journal Cancer that 45.2% of women age 65 and older with high-risk breast cancer did not undergo the recommended radiation treatment after having a mastectomy. The findings may be attributed a failure to follow evidence-based guidelines and disparities in access to care, researchers said.
