Patients with diabetes were twice as likely to suffer hearing loss than those without the disease, according to a Japanese study presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes may alter blood supply in the ear canal, which could damage small blood vessels and nerves resulting in eventual hearing loss, an expert said.
